Someone excited to make sun-butter !! |
This was my first time making this. I bought a small bag (.5oz made 4oz of butter) of sunflower seeds from the dollar store (yes, the dollar store). I put them into my food processor then turned it on for 3-4 minutes. Turn off for a few minutes & let the oils start to seep out. Then repeat until smooth & creamy. This took about 7-10 minutes.
If you would like an even more creamy butter add oil, just a teaspoon little at a time.
You could even add a little coconut oil instead, to give it some more flavor.
Or add some cocoa powder for a chocolate-sun-butter.
What about some honey... the possibilities are endless.
Oh my goodness!!! I have never heard of this before! It's genius. Does it need to be stirred each time you want to use it?
ReplyDeleteI felt compelled to share this on my blog as well as my Google+ account. I'm so excited to try this!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have found that it only needs to be stirred if it appears to have any liquid. But I kept mine in the fridge for over a week & did not need to stir it. Good Luck!
