Cleaning Tips & Easy DIY Green Recipes

Tub/Tile Cleaner

Vinegar- removes soap scum and mineral deposits. Make sure you rinse well or it will leave a residue.

OR

Mix in a spray bottle with:
-2 drops of Tea Tree Oil
-1 cup of water
Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic and fungicide. It kills most molds and prevents growth.
I keep mine in my shower so after we are finished we spray the tub & curtain.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner **UPDATE

-Using a spray bottle: Spray @1/2 cup vinegar on the toilet bowl, than sprinkle Baking Soda on top (it will start fizzing)
-Let sit for 10 minutes
-Clean the toilet with brush...flush

OR

-If you have hard water leave the 1/2 cup vinegar in the toilet for 1 hour
-Scrub

OR

-1/2 cup of Borax  -- actually worked wonders. I put it into the toilet, scrubbed it around for a minute or so then let it sit for 30 minutes.
Or you can leave it over night.
**It also cleaned my bath tub WONDERFULLY!! I did the same thing as the toilet. I mixed it with some water then used my toilet brush scrubbed it around the entire tub and let it sit for 30 minutes. My tub looks fantastic now!!

Clogged Drains??
Sprinkle baking soda over the drain (a TBSP- 1/3 C), then pour Vinegar over it (it will start fizzing). I let it sit for a few minutes then followed by boiling water
I have an electric kettle & that makes it easier… Viola
It unclogged my sinks

>>I usually take about 1/3 a cup of baking soda & walk around the apartment & that will do 2 toilets & 2 sinks. Then I go around with a cup of vinegar & that way you do the sinks & toilets at the same time.

Let sit for @2 minutes for best results
Work mixture into residue until residue is gone.
                                        Wipe off with warm water.

Finished product

I also super glued my fingers together last night

(yes, that kinda happens to me a lot) & it even UN-stuck my fingers.

Another good thing for removing labels is to take jar(s) & put into large bowl. Few drops of dish soap(dawn is what I have been using) & add boiling water. Let it sit for a bit, then wash labels off.

Fabric Softener:
-Add 1/4-1 cup white vinegar to the final rinse cycle

OR

-Try 1/4 cup Baking Soda in the wash cycle to reduce static cling.

>>> Vinegar also does a good job cleaning washing machine instead of bleach<< I have an hE top load washing machine.

I just put a cup of White Vinegar in the Bleach Dispenser & turn my washing machine to the "Clean Cycle"

FYI- To cut your drying time in 1/2 take a DRY towel & put it in the dryer with your wet clothes...
