Super Easy Laundry Detergant

Liquid Laundry Detergent
***UPDATE** This is my new favorite soap & EVEN easier to make**

Ingredients:
- 3/4 C  Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (I use Peppermint, but I believe you can really use which ever you like)
-1/2  C  Super Washing Soda
-1/2  C   Baking Soda (you can also use Borax if you wish)
*Optional* 20-50 drops of essential oils. I use a mix of lavender and only a few drops of tea tree.

Instructions:
-In a 5 gallon bucket, Put in 2 gallons of hot water.
-Add Super Washing Soda slowly until it dissolves completely
-While stirring constantly, add baking soda slowly
-Add your Castile soap slowly
*now add essential oils if using*

I put the detergent into an old liquid detergent bottle & the rest into a large (well cleaned) vinegar bottle.
For laundry, I fill to the first line (on the laundry bottle cap)  for small loads and the second line for large loads.
For a hard to remove stain, I pour a little detergent onto the stain let it set for a minute then add in with other clothes.

So Far, I absolutely LOVE this detergent. It smells great, & works great too.
This detergent has lasted our family of three, with daily washing (some days heavy duty) 2 WHOLE months!

***UPDATE***

September 26th 2013

I had been using this detergent (below) for while now... I was not really impressed with it. I also wanted to start getting away from Borax. Yes, it is easy to make, it just was not for me.

What you need:

1   Bar of soap
1 CUP Borax
1 CUP Washing Soda

This is my first time using a 'Zote' bar. I have used other bars but unable to find them down here in MS. The Zote bar is only $.99 at Walmart & there is a white package & a pink package.... I didn't want any fragrance so I chose the white bar. Actually, all of these ingredients are found at Walmart & are pretty cheap. As much as I HATE Walmart down here it seems it is the only place to go.

How to make it:
Grate up the Zote bar. I used a cheese grater & yes, it will look like shredded cheese. In a large container mix together the Washing Soda & Borax, then mix in the grated soap. I recycle all glass jars/bottles that come into our home, so I put mine into an empty & well cleaned pasta sauce jar. Just give it a shake before using. I also keep an old set of measuring spoons next to it so I can easily scoop it out.

I have an HE, top load washing machine & it works just fine. I use 1 TBSP per load, 2 TBSP for really dirty clothes. I also put white vinegar in my 'bleach' compartment to give it an 'extra' boast & decrease static. This recipe lasts me almost a month, but I have been keeping track of my laundry to tell you exactly how many loads it will do.... a 'jar' full of detergent does around 26 loads of laundry in my house. Even a full washing machine of cloths only gets 1T of detergent .. only hubby's field work cloths get 2 scoops.

I took an old dishwasher tablets plastic container & tripled the recipe. That way I only have to make it every couple of months.
